About Us

About ECS

Emporia Christian School is a place where students receive a distinctively Christian education, focused upon strong academics. ECS draws from a diverse Christian community. The school partners with parents and churches to develop children’s unique, God-given talents. Caring, committed, and highly qualified teachers nurture and challenge students to become lifelong learners through an educational program with a Christian worldview. The ultimate goal is to graduate students who continue their education into high school, thinking Biblically, serving the Lord, and demonstrating Christian character and servant leadership through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Governance

Emporia Christian School is managed year-round by Principal Ms. Sally Kaiser. The faculty is fully dedicated to serving Christ and is committed to providing academic excellence in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment.

The school is overseen by a Board of Directors that meets monthly. In addition, ECS has a Corporation Board composed of representatives from various churches in the Emporia area who keep their church apprised of developments at ECS. The Corporation Board meets twice a year. Please call the school if you are interested in attending any of the board meetings.

History

The dream of having a non-denominational Christian school became a reality in 1992. Under the leadership of Dr. Richard Watson, people of various denominations and backgrounds joined together to give the school its present building and base of support. Today, Emporia Christian School stands as a testimony of what can be accomplished through the love and unity in the Body of Christ. ECS continues to provide education for students from preschool through the eighth grade. Most of our students excel academically when they enter high school.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe the Holy Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21).

  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons— Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).

  • We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33),

    • His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35)

    • His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26)

    • His miracles (John 2:11)

    • His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9)

    • His resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4)

    • His ascension to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19)

    • His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).

  • We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. Men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ (John 3:16-19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5).

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28-29).

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28; Ephesians 2:19-22, 4:1-6).

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).

Philosophy of Christian Education

Emporia Christian School adopts the historic, Christian view of life as presented in the Bible. Since the sovereign and infallible God created and sustains everything through His Son Jesus Christ, the world and life are God-centered and should glorify Him.
